Mission of the project
We believe in the power of community. When people come together to help others, the potential to make meaningful impact is unlocked. Because of this, at Half Shekel we’re building an inclusive, empowered community where each member is equally important.
The goal of Half Shekel is to raise money for incredible organizations that are changing the world for the better, day in and day out. Every month we will choose 5 diverse causes and using the power of community, we will come together to collect funds and make a difference. Our high volume of members will collectively join forces to make a big difference for these organizations, and in turn change the lives of the many people they serve.
For example, if we have 1,000 members, each organization will receive $3600 - (payment processing fees)
10,000 members = $36,000
100,000 members = 360,000
1M members = $3.6 million dollars 🤑
Every month we will send you an email with the organizations we supported and how much we were able to help them.

🎬 Media Month, May 2022
This month we are dedicating the funds to media companies producing Jewish content like podcasts, videos, newsletters and other forms of communication committed to spreading Jewish values. After Covid, many organizations and individuals began creating informative and entertaining material online, and we hope to support their growing efforts.
The Yeshiva Net
Considered to be one of the most successful, passionate and mesmerizing communicators of Judaism today, YY Jacobson derives his ideas from the entire spectrum of Jewish thought and makes them relevant to contemporary audiences. He currently teaches one of the largest Torah classes in the world today, with thousands of virtual students globally.
Meaningful Minute
With an array of inspirational videos, podcasts, and documentaries from your favorite Jewish motivational speakers, the Meaningful Minute app reaches 50,000 Jews around the world every month.
Toveedo
Toveedo is a streaming service with over 100 educational and entertaining videos for kids in a safe, ad-free space. In today’s day in age, where even very young children spend much of their time watching videos, Toveedo ensures that the content that they’re exposed to is up to our Torah values.
Kosher Money
The world of personal finances can be confusing. When you're an Orthodox Jew navigating the various additional expenses that come with that, it can get more confusing. Kosher Money is creating content to educate Jews on how to spend, invest, save, and budget to create happiness in families and not stress about money so much.
Individuals
Our goal is to empower local and individual creators that are just getting started and may not have the funds to sustain their endeavors. This includes content in social media, podcasts, newsletters, movies, short-form videos, documentaries and general online Shiurim.
